Miffed over AK Antony being offered a seat next to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, NCP leaders had refused to attend a Cabinet meeting on July 19. However, following talks with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, a compromise was reached wherein in the absence of the Prime Minister, a three-member committee comprising AK Antony, Sharad Pawar and the Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha would oversee the government’s functioning.
