Description:
A massive power outage has been reported in New Delhi for the second day in a row. Metro services in the national capital have come to a standstill. Surprisingly so, the power situation in New Delhi appears more grim than the neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. A similar power failure hit the entire Northern grid on Tuesday. 300 million people in North India were affected by the massive power failure which lingered for over 15 hours. Preliminary investigations suggest that trouble occurred in the grid near Agra on Monday, which had a cascading effect on the entire grid, leading to tripping of major thermal power plants and hydroelectric stations across the region.
