Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, who has quit the BJP, plans to launch a new party prior to the upcoming assembly polls in the state. BJP, however, has downplayed the issue although there are reports that Patel is planning to field candidates in all assembly seats. Following his resignation from BJP, Patel, who was the biggest critic of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, has said that he has taken this drastic step to salvage the people of Gujarat from the administration.
