Heavy rains coupled with landslides have caused the loss of lives and property in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Many have been trapped in rising waters and several people have been stranded as the landslides have cut off the roads. Rescue operations are underway to save those stranded and trapped. People in low lying areas are requested to evacuate to safer places.
