Description: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who is readying to commence his fight against corruption and black money, has now been placed under the Income Tax scanner. Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has slapped cases on Baba Ramdev for alleged tax evasion. The government claims that Ramdev's 'Divya Yoga Mandir Trust' has evaded Service Tax to the tune of 4 crore rupees. Ramdev's Trust had reportedly collected 40 crores from the followers of the yoga guru. The report by the Director General of Central Excise Intelligence also claims that Ramdev's Trust has not yet furnished financial details to the income tax authorities. Showcause notices have already been sent to two other of Ramdev's Trusts. The timing of these cases is however being held suspect, as critics believe that the government saved up the information as ammunition for the 'right time'.
