Sushma Swaraj of the BJP has enlarged the scope of the argument by asking why only Hindu traditions are being 'used' in such a manner. She plans to take up the 'issue' in Parliament. Salim Akhtar argues saying that in the Hindu tradition gods and goddesses are treated more in the manner of a friend, and would be make sense to change it into a master-slave relationship as it exists in certain traditions.
