Set in rural Rajasthan, Balika Vadhu in Colors TV narrates the story of a child bride Anandi. The show deals with the social custom of child marriage, which is still practiced in certain parts of the sub-continent. Created by Purnendu Shekhar and directed by Sidharth Sengupta and Pradeep Yadav, this multiple-award-winning show narrates the story of a young girl Anandi, who gets married at the age of eight to a boy who is equally young, and bears the repercussions of the tradition for the rest of her life. Emotionally packed and addictive, this show takes the viewer through the arduous journey of the child bride from the cusp on childhood to womanhood.
